Editorial Policy
The standards every page on this site is held to, and what we will do when we get something wrong.
Independence
No manufacturer, retailer or agency pays for inclusion, placement, a score, or a favourable mention on this site, and none ever will. We do not publish sponsored posts, paid guest posts, or link insertions. We do not send drafts to manufacturers for review before publication. If a company offers any of these, the answer is no and the offer has no bearing on future coverage.
Accuracy and sourcing
Factual claims are checked against primary sources — manufacturer datasheets, regulatory filings, standards documents, or direct measurement — rather than other review sites. Where a claim cannot be verified independently, the page says so rather than restating a manufacturer's number as fact.
Affiliate links
Pages containing affiliate links carry a disclosure above the fold, before the first link, and every
outbound commercial link is marked rel="sponsored nofollow". Rankings are decided before links
are added. Commission rates play no part in scoring, ordering or selection.
Corrections policy
We correct errors promptly and visibly.
- Minor corrections — typographical and formatting fixes — are made silently.
- Factual corrections are made in place, and the page's last-updated date changes.
- Material corrections — anything that changes a recommendation, a score or a ranking order — carry a dated note on the page explaining what changed and why.
To report an error, email contact@tophomeplan.com with the page URL and the specific claim. We aim to respond within five working days.
Updates and freshness
Every guide shows the date it was last reviewed, not merely the date a word was changed. Rankings are re-examined when a product is discontinued or revised, when a significant new entrant appears, when a pattern of reliability complaints emerges, or at twelve months, whichever comes first.
Use of AI tools
We use software tools, including AI assistants, for research support, drafting assistance, formatting and proofreading. Every published page is reviewed and edited by a human, and every factual claim, score, recommendation and ranking decision is made by a human. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated content.
Images
Product imagery is either our own, supplied under licence, or clearly identified as illustrative. We do not present illustrative or generated imagery as photography of a specific unit.
Comments, quotes and third parties
Where we quote a manufacturer, a standard or another publication, we attribute it and link to it. We do not present quotes from named individuals or organisations that we have not verified.
Conflicts of interest
Anyone contributing to this site must disclose any financial interest in a manufacturer or retailer whose products they cover; where such an interest exists, they do not work on that category.
